Early Work
September 29, 2008
As an Art Director – my early work had a strong base in Visual Effects & Decor. As a result, I was able to participate on a variety of films – Stigmata, White Oleander, City of Industry, Takeshi Kitano’s Brother and Safe to name a few. I’m also quite proud to have been a member of Robert Skotak’s VFX Miniature Dept. that Won the Academy Award for Terminator 2. It was an… amazing time.
Looking For Sunday

Photos of Looking For Sunday Directed by Mark Piznarski (Gossip Girl, My So Called Life) and Produced by Academy Award Winner Donna Dewey. We shot this coming-of-age film with an all local crew in Denver. It was one of my best experiences in cinema.

Bangkok – Formosa Betrayed

Photos of the political thriller – Formosa Betrayed, which I Production Designed in both Bangkok, Thailand & Chicago, Illinois for Director Adam Kane. It was quite a task as we had two full crews working simultaneously across the globe. The story takes place in Taiwan in the early 80’s.
Dirty

Chris Fisher’s Dirty, a film about corrupt cops caught in a downward spiral, was a tough project to Design as we weathered one of the worst rainy seasons in L. A. history. It was also an amazing mix of culture, grit and color. Here’s an excellent review from Variety.

Replicating Afghanistan – Red Sands

Stigmata
September 25, 2008
MGM’s Stigmata Directed by Rupert Wainwright. This was certainly the most complex film that I had ever Art Directed. Working for Designer Waldemar Kalinowski was a great life experience as we replicated Pittsburgh and Brazil in a highly stylized manner. We built sets in L.A. and traveled deep into exotic Patzcuaro, Mexico.

Bolivian Heritage
January 1, 2007
Bolivia is an amazing country that is currently going through a period of social reform which is inwardly conflicted, yet also important for its growth as a nation. Our family has contributed to its betterment on many levels and continues to do so. Their accomplishments reaffirm the concept that anything is possible in this very short life. Some notable family members:
Ramon Rivero – Entrepreneur and honored politician. Bolivian Ambassador, Senator and Mayor of Cochabamba.

Beatriz Lavayen Velasco- Owner of the El Capitol Movie Theater & Hotel (1950’s –1970’s). My grandmother’s love for Art & Cinema directly shaped my filmmaking career.
